The partners have a combined total of over 110 years of experience in a wide variety of accounting and business areas. Most CPAs have been with the firm the majority, or all, of their accounting career, providing consistency in service to clients and the culture of “quality service with integrity”. There are also multi-generational CPAs on staff assuring the firm will be able to provide quality client service for years to come.

Paul D. Jacobsen

Paul started in public accounting in 1974, joined the firm in 1979, and supervises all areas of firm services. He has experience in income tax preparation and planning, small business consulting, agricultural tax planning, nonprofit entity tax status and financial statements, financial audits, structuring the purchase or sale of a business, business transition planning, general financial advice, estate, trust and gift tax planning.

Paul is a 1972 graduate of DMACC – Boone Campus and a 1974 graduate of Iowa State University with a major in Industrial Administration/Accounting.  Over the years, Paul has served in various capacities on local nonprofit boards.  He currently serves as his church treasurer, a position he has held for over 20 years.
 
Paul is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and a life member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He was a peer reviewer for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for over 20 years.
 
Paul is a “car guy” and has a passion for collector and muscle cars, particularly Corvettes.  He also collects Boone, Iowa antique memorabilia as well as Iowa banking items.

Thomas E. Kennedy

Tom has been with the firm for his entire career, which began in 1991.  He has experience in income tax preparation and planning, small business consulting, structuring the purchase or sale of a business, QuickBooks and Quicken bookkeeping and advising, financial audits, payroll services, and general financial advice.

Tom is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He graduated from Mount Mercy with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Tom enjoys coaching various sports for Greene County and Paton-Churdan schools, golfing and spending time with his kids.

Chris has experience in income tax preparation and planning, small business consulting, agricultural tax planning, nonprofit entity tax status and financial statements, bookkeeping advising, financial audits, payroll services, structuring the purchase or sale of a business, business transition planning, general financial advice, estate, trust and gift tax planning.

Chris is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He graduated from Iowa State University with a master’s degree in accounting.  He is a member of community organizations and serves on a number of nonprofit organization boards.
 
Chris was raised in Boone, Iowa and enjoys spending time with his wife, Iowa State sports, cars, and renovating old houses.

Christina started in the accounting profession in 2000 and worked in various capacities of public and private accounting until joining the firm in 2009.  She has experience in income tax preparation and planning, small business consulting including business start-up and entity selection, agricultural tax planning, minister income tax preparation, nonprofit entity tax status and financial statements, bookkeeping and QuickBooks advising,  auditing and financial reporting, payroll services,  structuring the purchase or sale of a business, business transition planning, estate, trust and gift planning, and general financial advice.  Christina holds the designation of Personal Financial Specialist qualifying her to provide comprehensive lifetime planning coordinating income tax, insurance, college savings, retirement planning, charitable giving, and estate, trust and gift tax planning.

Christina is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  She graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance.  She serves on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations.

Christina was raised on a farm near Stanhope, Iowa.  She enjoys spending time with her family, running, biking (bicycle and motorcycle), golfing, snow skiing, traveling, and watching her sons play sports.

Angela L. Kruse

Angie started in the accounting profession in 2003, working in private accounting, and joined the firm in 2013.  Angie has experience with individual and corporate income tax preparation, bookkeeping, financial audits and payroll services.  She graduated from Iowa State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business.  She went on to obtain a Master of Science in Accountancy degree from the University of Phoenix. 

Angie, her husband, and their two daughters reside near Ogden where they were both raised.  Angie and her husband both graduated from ISU, although the family is Hawkeye athletics fans!  They enjoy camping, golfing, biking, boating, and spending time with friends and family.

Chris joined the firm in 1988 and is in the office each tax season. Chris has experience in income tax preparation and planning, agricultural tax planning, general financial advice, estate, trust and gift tax planning. 

Chris is a part time accountant, working mainly during tax season, but is available for advice other times during the year.

Sharon joined the firm in 2005, and works as a receptionist, scheduler, and tax return and correspondence processor.  Sharon performs various other administrative duties and provides pleasant, friendly service to our clients.

Sharon was raised in the Ogden area, where she still resides with her family.  She enjoys riding motorcycles, gardening, and helping with school functions.

James L. Henkel

Jim started in the profession in 1966 and founded the firm in 1972.  He has experience in income tax preparation and planning, small business consulting, agricultural tax planning, nonprofit entity tax status and financial statements, financial audits, assistance structuring the purchase or sale of a business, business transition planning, general financial advice, estate, trust and gift tax planning.  He also supervised all areas of the firm’s services.

Jim retired from the practice in 2018, after 52 years in the profession.

Michael A. Scheuermann

(March 17, 1961 – July 18, 2014)

Mike joined the firm in 1984 and later became a partner. Mike was passionate about his profession and helping others; for 30 years he shared his expertise, providing valuable financial and accounting services to individuals and business in Boone and surrounding communities. He believed in giving back to the community and over the course of 30 years served on numerous boards and committees in the area. Upholding and advancing the accounting profession was also very important to him; he served on the Iowa Society of CPAs Board as well. Professionally he was a trusted advisor, respected leader, partner, mentor and friend. His leadership, guidance, and lively and caring personality will be greatly missed.
