Quality Service with Integrity since 1972

History and culture of quality service with integrity

Henkel & Associates, P.C. was founded in 1972 by James L. Henkel in Boone, Iowa. The practice has grown from no clients to a 6 partner, 8 CPA firm, with a total of 25 employees and five offices in Central Iowa. We believe gradual, deliberate growth ensures quality service with integrity is maintained. Firm policy has been to consistently do what is right for our clients. Your best interest and goals are our priority.

The firm’s culture advocates the product goes out the door accurately and in a timely manner. Our goal is to return telephone calls the same day. A team atmosphere is in place where everyone feels free to make comments to improve service to you. All work is reviewed by one of the partners, yet every staff member is part of the quality control team. Weekly staff meetings promote this culture providing an opportunity to share knowledge gained and find quality solutions for clients. All CPAs attend at least forty hours of continuing education each year in a variety of areas and share the knowledge gained at the weekly staff meetings.

Experience, now and for the future

The partners have a combined total of over 150 years of experience in a wide variety of accounting and business areas. Most CPAs have been with the firm the majority, or all, of their accounting career, providing consistency in service to clients and the culture of “quality service with integrity”. There are also younger CPAs on staff assuring the firm will be able to provide quality client service for years to come.

Independence and coordination with other professionals

We believe it is important clients receive independent, unbiased advice. Therefore, the firm does not sell any financial products or receive commissions for products clients purchase from others. The result is unbiased advice to assist clients in properly analyzing options to achieve their goals. We often work with other financial advisers, insurance agents, and attorneys at the client’s request.

Community and professional involvement

The staff also uses their time and talents to improve the community and profession through involvement in the community including schools, churches, civic clubs, not-for-profit boards, and the Iowa Society of CPAs.
